HubSpot: Log emails sent from Missive
Andrew Rasmussen
We use HubSpot as our CRM, and Missive to collaborate on emails.
This means our sales team uses Missive to send sales emails to our customers.
However, emails sent from Missive don't sync to HubSpot unless we BCC or forward them to a HubSpot email address. This is super manual and cumbersome.
HubSpot has a Google Workspace integration so that if you're using Gmail then you can log emails from there, but we don't want our sales team using Gmail because then we lose out on the benefits of using Missive.
It'd be great if Missive's HubSpot integration also meant that emails sent from Missive to an existing HubSpot contact would automatically log the email there.

I fully support this request 100%. We currently use Missive for shared emails and ActiveCampaign + PipeDrive for email automation and our sales pipelines, but are planning a move to Hubspot. If we cannot automatically sync emails send by Missive to Hubspot that will mean we have to drop Missive (and use shared emails in Hubspot + Outlook), which I'd rather not do.

I agree that implementing the same Track and Log checkboxes that the Gmail integration has would be very helpful and is better than using rules to BCC or clicking the forward to HubSpot button after the fact.
William Callahan
Agreed completely. We adopted another tool for this use case recently, and will probably phase out Missive because of the manual integration.

William Callahan I'm not sure if your'e allowed to say, but what tool are you using that works well with HubSpot?

Andrew Rasmussen Have you tried adding the BCC address to all relevant outgoing emails using a rule?
Or the auto-BCC settings in the email settings?
Andrew Rasmussen
Philippe: the main problem with that solution is that we don't want to send every email to HubSpot, only sales emails...
The BCC email will create contacts that don't already exist, and HubSpot charges by contacts, so we're going to add hundreds/thousands of non-sales contacts to HubSpot over time... including potentially private/sensitive email comms with them.
We only want to add the emails to go to HubSpot if they match an existing contact there.
Andrew Rasmussen
I guess we could make a Sales label in Missive and then have the rule only apply to Sales emails. But then we still have to make sure that all emails are properly labeled, which is manual and error-prone.

I guess the Google Workspace integration only pushes an email to Hubspot if the contact is already in Hubspot?

Andrew Rasmussen For our plan at least, HubSpot charges by Marketing Contact, not actual contacts. You could look into changing your HubSpot settings so new contacts are not automatically marked as marketing contacts and then use a different method of making sales contacts into marketing contacts. Or maybe different teams/shared inboxs so the sales@ email gets auto bcced while the support/help/service@ emails don't?
