WhatsApp 24h Window Indicator & Template Restriction
Tamino Rat, M.Sc.
Add a visual indicator in WhatsApp conversations showing when the 24-hour reply window has expired — similar to the blue dot system used in Superchat.
Description:
In the WhatsApp Business API, companies can freely reply to a user only within 24 hours of the user’s last message.
After that, messages can only be sent using pre-approved templates from Meta.
Currently, Missive does not visually indicate when a conversation is outside this 24-hour window, which can lead to confusion or failed message attempts.
Proposed Feature:
Display a blue indicator (dot or badge) in the conversation once the 24-hour reply window has expired.
When this indicator appears:
The regular text input field should be disabled.
The user should only be able to select and send a pre-approved Meta template directly from the chat interface.
When the conversation is within the 24-hour window, no indicator is shown, and free-form replies are allowed as usual.
Benefits:
Provides clear visibility of WhatsApp’s 24h rule.
Prevents failed message attempts.
Ensures compliance with Meta’s messaging policies.
Matches user experience standards from other tools like Superchat.
