Star a specific message, not the whole conversation

Gmail allows you to star one of the many messages in a conversation. Starring the whole conversation is less useful to me as I want to single out and highlight one specific part of the communication.

Workaround, you can move this email out of the conversation, and star it from the new conversation... might even be better.

Philippe Lehoux: also I need to star a single email of the thread. We are using Akiflow and if we star the thread, the problem is that they import all the email of the thread as starred. In gmail is possible to star the single email of the thread.

This would huge and is the #1 reason I have evaluated other email options. Missive only allows you to star all messages in a conversation and then on my iPhone it appears that I have 10 starred/flagged emails when really I only wanted to star/flag 1. This makes multi-device management of emails very difficult.

Pierre Steckmeyer As a workaround right now, if you have a long noisy thread and want to focus on a specific email, you can click the little arrow at the upper-right corner of the email, then

and paste this link in the chat box, either in the same conversation or in any other conversation. Pasting a message link in the chat box will display the message itself, so you can focus on it at the bottom of the view.
