Sort conversations in ascending or descending order / Filter by date
Peter Humphrey
So this request is a little out there, but leaving it here anyway.
I would love the option to sort emails from Oldest to Newest. Not all the time, but as an option. When emails are ordered new to old, i end up reacting the the newest emails and ignoring the oldest.
I would like to start attending to emails in a less-reactionary, First-In-First out process.
Another idea would be to allow the inbox to be filter by date. Essentially, filter out any emails that were received same-day and only show emails that are at least 1 day old. This is taken from Tony Hsieh's "Yesterbox" process: https://yesterbox.com/

This is really necessary especially when managing multiple accounts/teams. Many competing tools offer this - coming from front app they have the ability to sort your search from newest/oldest by activity (example comments added to the emails by your team) or by just the actual email itself. Below is the description from fronts sort feature:
Newest
The emails with the newest activity will be listed the top in chronological order down to oldest activity, regardless of whether the emails have been replied to yet. As you receive new inbound emails, they will appear at the top of the email list. The timestamp and sort will use the last activity time, such as an internal comment, reminder, or topic closure, and not necessarily the time of the last inbound message. If two inbound messages arrive back-to-back, Front will use the timestamp of the earlier message.
Oldest
The emails with the oldest activity will be listed at the top in chronological order down to newest, regardless of whether the emails have been replied to yet. As you receive new inbound emails, they will appear at the bottom of the email list. The timestamp and sort will use the last activity time, such as an internal comment, and not necessarily the time of the last inbound message. If two inbound messages arrive back-to-back, Front will use the timestamp of the earlier message.
Newest unreplied
The newest inbound messages that have not been replied to yet will be listed at the top in chronological order down to the oldest unreplied message. Messages that have been waiting the shortest amount of time for a reply will be at the top of your list. If two inbound messages arrive back-to-back, Front will use the timestamp of the earlier message.
Oldest unreplied
The oldest inbound messages that have not been replied to yet will be listed at the top in chronological order down to the newest. Messages that have been waiting the longest amount of time for a reply will be at the top of your list. If two inbound messages arrive back-to-back, Front will use the timestamp of the earlier message.

+1 to sorting inbox by incoming mail timestamp, without moving to the top threads with new reply or comment

We would also find this feature very useful. Hope to see it soon.

this is really important. Very hard to clean up my inbox due to the "lazy loading" of emails. Hard to even scroll to the bottom.

Being able to sort by oldest/newest is important. Even the comments in this thread allow you to sort activity by oldest/newest.

our shared inbox has over 1000 emails in it, we want to work from the oldest to the newest and assign out, but there is no way to do that sort.

+1 for this, recently came to my attention how I process my email queue which lets a lot of emails sit there for a while (if they’re non essential) purely because newer ones are coming in.

I'm interested in this also. Just chiming in so the developers take notice.

This doesn't seem like an out there request at all. Most other email tools will let you order views, particularly by date received/sent (ascending and descending).
While this would be useful within a conversation, it would also be useful to have this ability in an inbox, particularly if we could flatten the inbox view so you could see all emails (like unchecking "Organize by conversation" in Apple Mail).
Use cases:
- If I remember roughly when I received an email, but not which conversation it was a part of, being able to quickly scan a chronological list of emails will be faster than opening various conversations. Especially since those conversations might be all over the place chronologically.
- Sometimes I go through my list of emails chronologically to make sure that my time or expense records are accurate.
- Snoozed emails currently appear in the list at the point they were last snoozed. I understand why, but being able to order by date received/sent would allow me to see them in their original chronological order.
