Preview Word, Excel, Powerpoint documents
Kyle Pendley
Doesn't this already work? I'm pretty sure I can preview any file type that my computer supports right in the email by clicking on it and then hitting the space bar. Or clicking the little preview icon. Maybe just a mac thing and not PC?

Kyle Pendley: not possible for Word, Excel, Powerpoint documents. It works for images and PDF files though

Phil Langlois strange. It definitely works for me. I just went to an email where someone sent me a .doc file and i just select it and then hit my space bar and I can preview the file just fine.

Philippe Lehoux: Thank you, good work!

+1 on previewing PDFs vs having to download them!

Yes! I'm surprised this isn't a feature, and I wasn't aware of how often I use it in gmail (often to preview spreadsheets in either excel or gsheets) until I started testing out missive

Yes please!

Definitely a must have, could be implemented server-side, there are many suitable libraries for this.

It would be such a time saver if docs and xls can be previewed on the mobile app. At the moment to open a word doc on iPhone, you have to save it to a folder and then go back in and open it...

This is possible on a Mac by clicking on the attachment and pressing the space bar. Windows has no native equivalent although Seer or QuickLook might do the job.
That said, the attachment is on a server so it will always be downloaded (even if using quick look or an equivalent).
