Some telephone numbers should not have a country code prefix (e.g., work extensions). It would be nice to have an option to exclude it from a phone number.

Edit: In addition, where a country code was not included in the original address book, Missive is applying the first digits of the phone number as the country code, which is messing up the numbers.

International country codes are required in order for SMS to work when sending from Missive, so I’m not sure if this is something we will remove. e.g. It’s required as well in Google Contacts.

As for the numbers that were entered before we made it mandatory, you can edit the numbers and select the right country code to fix the formatting.

Etienne Lemay: Google Contacts may include the country code, but it is formatting it gracefully where there should not be a code presented (please see the two screenshots for an example). Missive is plugging a +1 in front, or worse, using the 1 found at the start of those numbers and removing it from the number (making them +1 500 and +1 1339).

Yes, you're right, I could go through my contacts one-by-one and edit each one (many with multiple numbers). It's a shame that the data was good when I imported it and now it isn't, and I don't really agree that that's on me to fix.
