Bring back read receipts

sounds so small but we're so upset to lose read receipts.
We're leaving missive. It was the perfect email client for us until now. Hopefully you'll reconsider and bring it back.
I showed it to a friend that runs his own company a few weeks ago and he fell in love. We spoke today about the removal of read receipts and he said "why would they do that, thats one of the number 1 reasons we were considering it".
I assume its a very small chance that it will ever come back. Good luck. Hope to be back again.

I agree...read receipts is a super valuable sales tool that is absolutely key. Especially if you email a lots of quotes and just want have peace of mind that the email was opened and didn't end up in their junk email box or just got lost in the noise.

We wrote a blog post explaining in greater details why we sunset read tracking :
I will close this, as the chances of the feature coming back are pretty much zero.
I understand your frustration, but keep in mind, we took this decision knowing it would have a direct negative impact on our bottom line. It aligns with our value and where we want to take Missive next.
Pixel trackers is not our fight.

Yes, this was the singular reason I switched from Spark to Missive with my team a couple months ago. Ugh...

I agree. This is silly to remove as there are many other Email Apps that offer this, and will continue to offer this. Regardless, read receipts are in compliance with GDPR since no IP's are captured and available for Missive users. I've since switched to Airmail, yet there is no Android App available for Airmail. However, the service is great, they have a free option, and a paid service only costs $10 per year.
Regardless, even Roundcube for Webmail has read receipts built-in. Also, embedding images from my website in my email signature also pull hits with all of the data I could want > Device, IP's etc.....

Nord SEO: "read receipts are in compliance with GDPR since no IP's are captured and available for Missive users"
Tracking pixels are not the same as read receipts where the recipient opts in. The GDPR working group was quite adamantly against tracking pixels (https://www.gdpreu.org/compliance/email-tracking/ see also https://www.pipedrive.com/en/blog/gdpr-email-tracking#app:~:text=Why%20You%20Need%20to%20Reconsider%20Your%20Email%20Tracking%20Right%20Now). If you've read something different please post it as I'd love to read it.

Geoff Ball: The biggest entities in the world are completely violating these laws. Perfect example would be kickfire[dot]com.
Regardless, we have the rights to know when our confidential information has been shared to other people when emails are forwarded in violation of our terms. There are laws to protect this as well.

Nord SEO: Perhaps the real issue is that confidential information is being shared via email. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Unfortunately, this was the primary reason I left Spark and began using Missive for our team. I understand the reasoning behind removing it though and will see what other options we have out there to fill this gap now.

This is a crucial feature so we can know who to follow up with, even if it's not perfect. It's way better than no read receipts.

What did it hurt by leaving it for those that were using it and happy with it. Why hit the panic button so fast , Just the words used in his letter , you can tell he was angry. ... ugh.

We too are unfortunately forced to seek an alternative platform. Read receipts save(d) us a whole lot of hassle, time and therefore money in our daily operations. Even if not 100% accurate, they were accurate enough for us to largely estimate how much time and effort we invest in which client. After a while, you can assume that i.e. they are largely inaccurate with Outlook users, so you take that into account. Or if you have already had a convo with a client who reportedly has never opened any previous email according to the read receipts, you can also safely assume it doesn't work with that particular client. No big deal.
Not accurate enough? Let the users disable it themselves if they wish to. But not having read receipts available whatsoever simply costs us more than what we pay for Missive, so regardless of how we've been advocating and raving about Missive over the past 2 (3?) years, we're sad to be forced to take our comms elsewhere 😞

Would much rather check off an “i accept” box stating we understand about false positives and we are not in the EU and we will not abuse this feature.
Instead we’ve had to jump ship. Really a shame. We were paying $30 a month and were going to add more users.
